Laying of the foundation in Wismar - Serial Production of Kenersys turbines starting in August
18.05.09

Definitely progressed beyond laying of the foundation stone: steel construction of Kenersys production plant and administrative building already completed.

Steel construction of the production hall and the administrative building had already progressed quite far when Dr. Andreas Reuter, managing director of Kenersys Europe, laid the foundation stone for the production plant for wind turbine generators at the harbor of Wismar (East-Germany) together with high ranking guests from politics and economy of the region. On an area of approximately 40,000 square meters serial production will start as of August this year.

The plant in Wismar is made up of a two-span assembly hall with an overall height of 18 meters and crane bridges with raising capacity up to 100 tons, as well as a an administrative building covering all administrative activities around production and service. The Kenersys wind turbines K 82 and K 100 with an output of 2.0 and 2.5 MW respectively are going to be assembled here, the focus being on the European market. The plant is designed for an annual production capacity of 180 wind turbine generators.

“High reliability, high availability and an intelligent electrical concept”, that’s the company`s key design philosophy. This concept convinced renowned customers such as the German project developer Juwi or the energy-suppliers as Göteborg Energi and Vattenfall for whom the Kenersys prototypes were installed in Göteborg and Gotland respectively.

Both the platforms were designed and developed by Kenersys engineers: the main European headquarter is based in Münster/Germany. About 40 engineers, who according to Dr. Andreas Reuter have a professional track record of altogether round 400 years in the wind business, are working in the Kenersys Innovation Centre. The members of the Kenersys team are well known in the industry: founded in 2002 as RSB-Consult by wind-turbine developers Dr. Andreas Reuter, Florian Schubert and Markus Becker, the company became part of the Kalyani Group in 2007. Turbines were designed and developed inhouse up to serial production.

The most determining factors for the decision of Wismar as the location of the production plant were, according to Dr. Andreas Reuter, the very attractive location at the sea port for the shipping into European and non-European Markets as well as the extraordinary good conditions for the recruiting of qualified personnel. The investment is supported by the Federal State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, who highly welcomes Kenersys` decision to set up the plant in Wismar.
